Artist's
Profile
Lin
Hampton is a Texas Artist with a Texas-sized ambition:
"one day
soon, all I am going to do is paint."
But
for now, Lin works to pay the bills as a computer Network Administrator for Texas
Mental Health and Mental Retardation in Denton, Texas. "Working for another
entity allows me to paint whatever I want to paint for now. It allows me the
freedom to explore and change subjects and media without concern of impacting
the family budget. I don't feel pressured into taking commissions, or trying to
paint to the market, instead I am able to ask myself~ what do I want to work on
today? It's a definite trade-off because the job saps so much time and energy,
but this is the path I have chosen. For now, it seems to be working for
me."
After
5:00 p.m., there are studies and family business, and then Lin stretches the
time that is left to draw and paint into the wee hours of the morning.
"An
Internet Gallery is a mysterious and challenging concept.
To
view an original painting or pastel on the web, is not unlike viewing a color
plate in an art catalogue or book -some sensory element is missing. The
colors are never really true.
You miss the texture, the smells, the small hidden places in the work-all
of the things that become yours alone when you

my work in a Virtual Gallery will bring me closer to my goal. Please come back

Oil
Paint and Pastels are my passion, my obsession.
My work is an attempt to share a special vision I am blessed with, to
find the beauty in the light and color in the world.
Renoir
said "For me a picture...should be something likeable, joyous, and pretty
---yes pretty.
There are enough ugly things in life for us not to add to them."
Renoir's
words give me the courage to continue my vision.
"I
paint because I am not a whole person unless I create."
